Abstract
Myositis is a systemic disease that includes bacterial infection occurring in the skeletal muscle with no obvious local or adjacent source of infection. Myositis caused by Mycobacterium Tuberculosis is very unusual and this has rarely been reported. Therefore, we report here on a case of hematogenous tuberculous myositis along with a review of the literature. A 31-year-old man underwent renal transplantation 5 years ago and he was taking immunosuppressive agents. He presented with high fever (above 39¡É), left thigh pain and swelling that he had suffered with for about the previous 15 days. The CT scan and MRI showed inflammatory change of the thigh muscle. The biopsy findings of the skeletal muscle showed numerous acid-fast bacilli. After he received anti-tuberculosis therapy, the high fever and myositis were much improved.(Korean J Med 72:S349-S353, 2007)
